On the second day we met our tour guide at the naval museum and he led us to a different neighborhood where there is a street completely filled with breakfast restaurants. We went to a restaurant called eleven brothers which was very good. Then we walked around and went to a pickle store where we drank pickle juice mixed with spices and a little bit of beet juice. We then walked in a district that used to house the workers that built the royal palace and we visited a really cool book store. We then took a ferry across the Bosphorus river to the Asian side of Istanbul. We then went to an Irish pub to have a Guinness. After that we walked for a bit and then went to a restaurant called Ciya Sofrasi that was not very good. We then walked for about one hour before we took another ferry back to the european side where we once again bought Baklava and then we rested for the rest of the day.
Turkey Day One
We Arrived in Istanbul at 11:30. Our air bnb was close to a 67 meter tall tower by the name of gelata tower, there was a restaurant named guney next to the tower and we went there for lunch. We started of with fresh bread along with a nut and spice mix and a sour yoghurt similar to Labna. We then settled into our air bnb which is a 130 year old building. We then went to a bakery called Karaköy Güllüoglu which is famous for its Baklava so we got a Baklava sampler platter which was very good. We then went out to a mezzez restaurant for dinner and it was delicious.
BIRTHDAY PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello, sorry if you thought there were too many exclamation marks. So my birthday was the eleventh of October twenty twenty. My birthday party was on the seventeenth of October twenty twenty. We went to a parkour in the trees. In fact it was the exact same one I wrote about in a different blogpost so check that out in the description bellow, not. I invited eight people and two couldn’t come and we replaced one of the two. So counting me we were 7 kids and two adults. We climbed for about two and a half hours. The cake was chocolate with chocolate frosting and butterscotch filling. Don’t forget to like and subscribe for more awesome blogs.
Ps I was going to write a ps but I forgot so. Ya. have a blessed day, week, month you get it. Jasper out
Day three in Cyprus

This morning we had breakfast and then drove to this secret little cove. When we got there we put on our snorkeling gear and we started swimming in a cove that leaded into the sea. After two or so minutes we saw a turtle peacefully eating some moss off a rock as we got closer it looked at us but was not a all scared we hung out with it for a little bit and then we found a flounder type fish and we looked at that. We kept looking around and saw some cool fish and a big turtle.after we headed back to shore dried off and went to a restaurant to eat.as we were eating I thought about how cool it was to be a meter away from this wild creature in it’s natural habitat. Then we came back to the resort I read for a while, had a swim in the pool and then I am writing this in bed again. Well that’s all bye
Day two in Cyprus

Today, at 7:00 am or so I went to the buffet to write down all the food choices when I was done my dad joined and I was his waiter and also my mom went for a 10 k run. After I went to the pool and swam for a while then my mom came back and she had breakfast \. Then we changed and went down to the beach. My dad forgot his swimsuit so he couldn’t swim, after we swam for a while we went snorkeling around these rocks covered in moss and lichen and we saw many kinds of fish. After I went to the bar and got some drinks and we hung out for a while. Then my dad had to go back for a work call. I came back 20 or so minutes later and had a burger for lunch then I read for a while and went swimming in the pool again. Cyprus time

Hello every one I’m writing this from my bed in a hotel in Cyprus. Today was my first full day here. This morning I woke up around 7:30 am and relaxed for a while. Then we went to the breakfast buffet and had some breakfast then I went swimming in the hotels pool then we went to this amazing Greek restraunt and got souvlaki, skewers, pita, cheese dip and many other delicous edibles. We rented a convertible and drove to a resort by the ocean. When we got there I swam in the pool for a few hours and came upstairs to my bedroom were I am currently writing this story. Bye and see you tomorrow for EP;2
Running in the rain
This is probably going to be my shortest one but here goes, today was a fairly nondescript day. I played after school with some friends and it was raining a bit. I was playing a role play game based off wings of fire, amazing book series about dragons and prophecies.as I was leaving school it started to pour but I kept going while everyone else hid inside. By the time I got home I was soaked to the bone and cold,so I changed my clothes to pajamas and played some FORTNITE.
On The Water
Summer just doesn’t feel complete without time spent on the water. This past week ticked almost all of the boxes.
We were lucky enough to rent a place on Scharmutzelsee (about an hour Southeast of Berlin) It was the last place they had available and had three bedrooms which was perfect because then we could have more friends along!
Jasper’s friend Anton (best story teller of adventures) from school joined us and so did our family friends Alice (best listener) and her daughters Elfie (best Stand Up Paddle Boarding partner) and Sasha (best sous chef).

But back to the water… we were staying right next to a Marina that rented out large pedal boats, stand up paddle boards and more.

All 6 of us spent 4 hours out in the pedal boat, jumping off, swimming, getting pulled by the current back into shore, pedaling back out to do it all over again!

On our last full day we went out on a chartered sailboat to see more of the lovely lake. However, it was really hot and unfortunately not that windy. But darn we all looked good on that yacht!

It stayed hot on our last night and the kids and I went in for a pre bedtime swim to cool off and enjoy the lake one last time.
Berlin is surrounded by so many lakes. This summer we have also swum in the Havel, Plotzensee, and Wansee. Can’t wait to explore more. Stay tuned for the next installment because on Friday I’m going kayaking!
First Day Of Grade Six
Hello , glad you are still reading my blog posts. Anyway, Today was my first day of grade six. Our teachers name is Ms.Cooper and she is from the Isle of Man. The Isle of Man has a superstition that if you say the word or hear the word rat you have to touch wood and whistle otherwise you will have bad luck. Cool but weird, right. Three new people joined our class. Which I thought was weird because of covid-19. Normally we mix classes each year but this year we didn’t. Today was also my first day of eating school food in a while, which I didn’t particularly enjoy but such is the life of a school boy. We did drama today and we had to make a story about a script I memorized. Here goes. So what do we do now
Well,we can’t saw the furniture in half
This isn’t’ the time for an emotional response
This is exactly the time for an emotional response.
Interesting right. After school I played with some of my friends.well that’s all for now. Bye bye. By Jasper the interesting.
“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.”
I asked my learned brother for an inspirational quote to share with Jasper on his first day of grade six and got this ditty from W.B. Yeats.
“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” W.B. Yeats
In talking with Jasper recently about the value of going to school, we have discussed that it is not about doing well on tests that matters the most, but rather exercising the muscle of learning. Exercising is not the right word, I think conditioning is better.
Setting your brain into a forward gear of ingesting, digesting – extracting the value from information and data. From experiences.
As Jasper starts his adventure down the path of 6th grade I would love for you to share what gets you excited about learning.
Thanks for the inspiration Uncle Chris!
